Alcos over the Pocono Mainline Volume 1
Filmed along the ex-Delaware Lackawanna and Western mainline, this line now runs from Scranton , Pa to Slateford along the Delaware.
See Alco locomotives from the 1960's and 1950's hauling freight to customers just like time has stood still. Even though these trains
were filmed in 2007 through 2009, the look and feel of the trains and historic line they run on gives the feeling of the 1960's.
Watch
as six Alcos thunder up the Pocono inclines as they work a grain mill during a snow storm. Tremendous sound from this massive locomotive
gathering.
Alcos out of Scranton has great scenes in the Steamtown yard as the railroad prepares for a freight run then pours on the
power to climb the Poconos.
See the Delaware-Lackawanna Alcos pick up loads from Norfolk Southern then attack the Pocono mountains
to get back to Scranton.
Lots of RS-3 action on this DVD as these classic road switchers from the 1950's haul general freight and grain to the customers along the Pocono main. This may be the only place in the world where three RS-3 locomotives are actually together and working freight. Also see a pair of RS-3 units haul passengers around the Poconos.
Watch the Alcos help a historical passenger trip led by a beautiful E8 diesel.
See the latest addition to the Alco fleet, the 2423, a Century 425 hauling freight from Slateford.

Watching a steam locomotive is usually an inspiring experience, but watching one haul historical freight is something not often seen these days. New Hope and Ivyland # 40 steams through the mist hauling freight and passengers.
Ever see those photos of bygone days where railfan excursions have an open gondola filled with railfans, or maybe you have actually been on one. The Reading and Northern 425 Baldwin steam locomotive ran through the beautiful mountains near the Lehigh gorge and hauled an old-time railfan event in 2008! Watch this beautiful blue locomotive scream through the countryside in this simulation of an old style railfan event.
Ice cutting was a mainstay of the Pocono mountains and the DL&W railroad hauled it to the city areas for refrigeration. Now in an inverse historical event, Steamtown hauls people to a historical ice cutting event at the top of the mountain. Nothing like steam in the winter! Watch both 2008 and 2009 winter steam runs as CN 3254 makes a steam plume that reaches for a mile.
More R&N 425 action and a rare video of CP 2317 out of Steamtown to East Stroudsburg.
